A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled

"Michigan election law,"

by amending section 492a (MCL 168.492a), as amended by 2018 PA 125; and to repeal acts and parts of acts.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 492a. An individual who is confined in a jail or prison and who is otherwise a qualified elector may , before trial or sentence, register to vote. The individual is considered a resident of the city or township, and address, at which he or she resided before confinement. An individual who is confined in a jail after being convicted and sentenced is not eligible to register to vote.

Enacting section 1. Section 758b of the Michigan election law, 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.758b, is repealed.
