SUMMARY OF BILL
REPORTED FROM COMMITTEE
House Bill 4445 (as reported without amendment)
Sponsor: Representative Sarah Lightner
House Committee: Regulatory Reform
Senate Committee: Regulatory Reform
CONTENT
The bill would amend the Michigan Liquor Control Code to amend the definition of "motorsports entertainment complex" to reduce, from seven to two, the number of scheduled days of motorsports events per calendar year to meet that definition for purposes of a motorsport event license.
Notwithstanding the Code's license quota provisions, the Michigan Liquor Control Commission may issue motorsports event licenses for the sale of beer and wine or beer, wine, mixed spirit drink, and spirits for consumption on the premises to the owner of a motorsports entertainment complex for use during sanctioned events only.
"Motorsports entertainment complex" means a closed-course motorsports facility and its ancillary grounds that complies with the criteria specified in the definition, including that it has at least seven scheduled days of motorsports events each calendar year. The bill would reduce the number of schedule days from seven to two.
