CONTENT

The bill would amend the Michigan Election Law to specify that only the Secretary of State (SOS), a designated voter registration agency, or county, city, or township clerk could have access to the qualified voter file.

Currently, the SOS must maintain the computer system and programs necessary to operate the qualified voter file. The SOS must allow each county, city, or township access to the qualified voter file. The county, city, and township clerks must verify the accuracy of the names and addresses of the registered electors in the qualified voter file. The bill would specify that only the SOS, a designated voter registration agency, or a county, city, or township clerk could have access to the qualified voter file.
