AMBULANCE OPERATIONS – QUALITY ASSURANCE ASSESSMENT PROGRAM (QAAP) NOTIFICATION

House Bill 4830 (proposed substitute H-2)

Sponsor:  Rep. Andrea K. Schroeder

Committee:  Appropriations

Complete to 10-30-19

SUMMARY:

Section 20161 of the Public Health Code, 1978 PA 368, allows the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to collect quality assurance assessment fees from health facilities and agencies for the purpose of providing reimbursements for services provided to Medicaid enrollees. House Bill 4830 would require DHHS to send annual notifications, beginning November 1, 2020, to each ambulance operation that would be assessed the ambulance provider quality assurance assessment (QAAP) fees.

MCL 333.20161

FISCAL IMPACT:

This bill would not have a fiscal impact on the state or local units of government. The requirement to notify ambulance providers affected by the QAAP would likely result in negligible administrative costs.
