SUMMARY:
House Bill 4519 would amend Part 741 (State Parks System) and Part 831 (State Forest Recreation) of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (NREPA) to require a 24-hour window for Michigan residents to make reservations at a state park or forest before opening up reservations to all interested persons.
Under the bill, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) could not make a reservation at a campground, cabin, yurt, or lodge in a state park or state forest available to a nonresident unless that reservation had first been made available to residents of Michigan for at least 24 hours.

FISCAL IMPACT:
House Bill 4519 would not affect costs or revenues for DNR or local units of government.
