Rep. Sherry Gay-Dagnogo, from the 8th District, offered the following invocation:

“God of our weary years, God of our silent tears.

Thou Who hast brought us thus far on the way;

Thou Who hast by Thy might, led us into the light,

Keep us forever in the path, we pray.

Lest our feet stray from the places, of our God, where we met Thee.

Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee.

Shadowed beneath Thy hand, may we forever stand,

True to our God, true to our native land.

Dear God as we gather together as stewards of Your people serving the state of Michigan we first say thank You, thank You for the duty that You have entrusted and assigned to us all. In Your sight we are collected, beyond our respective party affiliation we ask that we are able to demonstrate the love on this great day- that we celebrate love with the love of Christ in our hearts and in our actions. Whoever lives in love, lives in God and God in them. Ephesians 4:2 ‘be completely humble and be gentle, be patient, bearing with one another in love.’ Above all other- above all as Peter instructs, love each other deeply because love covers a multitude of sin. ‘My command’ in John says, ‘this is love- love each other as I have loved you.’ As we celebrate Ash Wednesday, we ask that You truly turn our hearts to true repentance to serve Your people. As we stand united, we ask that You bless all of our law enforcement officers those whose lives that have been taken senselessly not only in the city of Detroit, but throughout our state. Give us a consciousness and a willingness to work together, to lift up their lives and their safety as they serve to protect and keep our community safe. Bless their families during these great tragedies. We forever pray. Lord let us find a way to advance policies that unite us more, and divide us less. Let us serve as a beacon of light in this 99^th legislature before we turn 100, to show to the nation, that Michigan can, and Michigan will work together as one Michigan; beyond our party affiliation, our race, or culture will stand united to advance one Michigan. God give us a heart, a heart like Your heart, let this mind be in us what is also in Christ Jesus. Let us be accepting of others, inviting of others, and willing to advance policies that impact others. God bless us with true love, love that passes all understanding on this great day of love. We thank You, we bless You, we honor You, and we certainly praise You; in Jesus name we pray, Amen.”

Amend page 2, line 23, after “PERIOD.” by inserting “AN EMPLOYER WHO CHANGES A REGULARLY SCHEDULED MONTHLY PAY PERIOD SHALL PROVIDE NOTICE OF THE CHANGE TO ITS EMPLOYEES, IN WRITING OR BY ELECTRONIC MAIL, AND SHALL POST NOTICE OF THE CHANGE IN A CONSPICUOUS LOCATION AT ITS PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT, AT LEAST 2 MONTHS BEFORE MAKING THE CHANGE.”.

A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled “An act to provide for the registration, titling, sale, transfer, and regulation of certain vehicles operated upon the public highways of this state or any other place open to the general public or generally accessible to motor vehicles and distressed vehicles; to provide for the licensing of dealers; to provide for the examination, licensing, and control of operators and chauffeurs; to provide for the giving of proof of financial responsibility and security by owners and operators of vehicles; to provide for the imposition, levy, and collection of specific taxes on vehicles, and the levy and collection of sales and use taxes, license fees, and permit fees; to provide for the regulation and use of streets and highways; to create certain funds; to provide penalties and sanctions for a violation of this act; to provide for civil liability of manufacturers, the manufacturers of certain devices, the manufacturers of automated technology, upfitters, owners, and operators of vehicles and service of process on residents and nonresidents; to regulate the introduction and use of certain evidence; to regulate and certify the manufacturers of certain devices; to provide for approval and certification of installers and servicers of certain devices; to provide for the levy of certain assessments; to provide for the enforcement of this act; to provide for the creation of and to prescribe the powers and duties of certain state and local agencies; to impose liability upon the state or local agencies; to provide appropriations for certain purposes; to repeal all other acts or parts of acts inconsistent with this act or contrary to this act; and to repeal certain parts of this act on a specific date,” by amending section 304 (MCL 257.304), as amended by 2017 PA 162.
