SUBSTITUTE FOR

HOUSE BILL NO. 6086

A bill to amend 1998 PA 58, entitled

"Michigan liquor control code of 1998,"

(MCL 436.1101 to 436.2303) by adding section 905a.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

Sec. 905a. (1) Except as provided in subsection (2), a person

licensed under this act to sell alcoholic liquor for consumption on

or off the licensed premises at retail shall post in a conspicuous

location a sign informing the public of the effects of alcohol

consumption during pregnancy. The sign shall contain the message:

"Pregnancy and alcohol do not mix. Drinking alcoholic beverages of

any type during pregnancy can cause birth defects.". The commission

shall develop and furnish the sign.

(2) If the person described in subsection (1) sells alcoholic

liquor for consumption on the licensed premises, instead of posting
