     A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled

 

"Michigan vehicle code,"

 

(MCL 257.1 to 257.923) by adding sections 811cc, 811dd, 811ee,

 

811ff, and 811gg.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 811cc. (1) A fund-raising plate or collector plate

 

recognizing the Detroit Red Wings shall bear an appropriate logo,

 

the design of which the Detroit Red Wings shall submit to the

 

secretary of state. The secretary of state shall confer with the

 

department of state police to ensure that the design will not

 

compromise the ability of law enforcement agencies to accurately

 

identify specific vehicles.

 

     (2) Registration plates bearing a Detroit Red Wings logo shall

 

not be a duplication of another registration plate. The Detroit Red

 


Wings shall comply with section 803m(3)(c) and (d) and (4)(c) and

 

(d).

 

     (3) The Detroit Red Wings fund is created within the state

 

treasury. The state treasurer may receive money or other assets

 

from any source for deposit into the fund. The state treasurer

 

shall direct the investment of the fund. The state treasurer shall

 

credit to the fund interest and earnings from fund investments.

 

Money in the fund at the close of the fiscal year shall remain in

 

the fund and shall not lapse to the general fund.

 

     (4) The secretary of state shall transfer the donation money

 

from the sale of fund-raising plates recognizing the Detroit Red

 

Wings to the state treasurer, who shall credit the donation money

 

to the Detroit Red Wings fund established under subsection (3).

 

     (5) The state treasurer shall disburse money in the fund

 

established under subsection (3) on a quarterly basis to the

 

Detroit Red Wings Foundation. Beginning not later than 1 year after

 

the secretary of state issues the fund-raising plate described in

 

this section and annually thereafter, the Detroit Red Wings

 

Foundation shall submit to the state treasurer a summary of the

 

expenditures during the preceding year of the money received under

 

this section.

 

     Sec. 811dd. (1) A fund-raising plate or collector plate

 

recognizing the Detroit Tigers in this state shall bear an

 

appropriate logo, the design of which the Detroit Tigers shall

 

submit to the secretary of state. The secretary of state shall

 

confer with the department of state police to ensure that the

 

design will not compromise the ability of law enforcement agencies

 


to accurately identify specific vehicles.

 

     (2) Registration plates bearing a Detroit Tigers logo shall

 

not be a duplication of another registration plate. The Detroit

 

Tigers shall comply with section 803m(3)(c) and (d) and (4)(c) and

 

(d).

 

     (3) The Detroit Tigers fund is created within the state

 

treasury. The state treasurer may receive money or other assets

 

from any source for deposit into the fund. The state treasurer

 

shall direct the investment of the fund. The state treasurer shall

 

credit to the fund interest and earnings from fund investments.

 

Money in the fund at the close of the fiscal year shall remain in

Detroit Tigers fund established under subsection (3).

Detroit Tigers Foundation. Beginning not later than 1 year after

 

the secretary of state issues the fund-raising plate described in

 

this section and annually thereafter, the Detroit Tigers Foundation

 

shall submit to the state treasurer a summary of the expenditures

 

during the preceding year of the money received under this section.

 

     Sec. 811ee. (1) A fund-raising plate or collector plate

 

recognizing the Detroit Lions shall bear an appropriate logo, the

 

design of which the Detroit Lions shall submit to the secretary of

 

state. The secretary of state shall confer with the department of

 


state police to ensure that the design will not compromise the

 

ability of law enforcement agencies to accurately identify specific

 

vehicles.

 

     (2) Registration plates bearing a Detroit Lions logo shall not

 

be a duplication of another registration plate. The Detroit Lions

 

shall comply with section 803m(3)(c) and (d) and (4)(c) and (d).

 

     (3) The Detroit Lions fund is created within the state

 

treasury. The state treasurer may receive money or other assets

 

from any source for deposit into the fund. The state treasurer

 

shall direct the investment of the fund. The state treasurer shall

 

credit to the fund interest and earnings from fund investments.

 

Money in the fund at the close of the fiscal year shall remain in

 

the fund and shall not lapse to the general fund.

 

     (4) The secretary of state shall transfer the donation money

 

from the sale of fund-raising plates recognizing the Detroit Lions

 

to the state treasurer, who shall credit the donation money to the

 

Detroit Lions fund established under subsection (3).

 

     (5) The state treasurer shall disburse money in the fund

 

established under subsection (3) on a quarterly basis to the

 

Detroit Lions Charities. Beginning not later than 1 year after the

 

secretary of state issues the fund-raising plate described in this

 

section and annually thereafter, the Detroit Lions Charities shall

 

submit to the state treasurer a summary of the expenditures during

 

the preceding year of the money received under this section.

 

     Sec. 811ff. (1) A fund-raising plate or collector plate

 

recognizing the Detroit Pistons in this state shall bear an

 

appropriate logo, the design of which the Detroit Pistons shall

 


submit to the secretary of state. The secretary of state shall

 

confer with the department of state police to ensure that the

 

design will not compromise the ability of law enforcement agencies

 

to accurately identify specific vehicles.

 

     (2) Registration plates bearing a Detroit Pistons logo shall

 

not be a duplication of another registration plate. The Detroit

 

Pistons shall comply with section 803m(3)(c) and (d) and (4)(c) and

 

(d).

 

     (3) The Detroit Pistons fund is created within the state

 

treasury. The state treasurer may receive money or other assets

 

from any source for deposit into the fund. The state treasurer

 

shall direct the investment of the fund. The state treasurer shall

 

credit to the fund interest and earnings from fund investments.

 

Money in the fund at the close of the fiscal year shall remain in

 

the fund and shall not lapse to the general fund.

 

     (4) The secretary of state shall transfer the donation money

 

from the sale of fund-raising plates recognizing the Detroit

 

Pistons to the state treasurer, who shall credit the donation money

 

to the Detroit Pistons fund established under subsection (3).

 

     (5) The state treasurer shall disburse money in the fund

 

established under subsection (3) on a quarterly basis to the Come

 

Together Foundation. Beginning not later than 1 year after the

 

secretary of state issues the fund-raising plate described in this

 

section and annually thereafter, the Come Together Foundation shall

 

submit to the state treasurer a summary of the expenditures during

 

the preceding year of the money received under this section.

 

     Sec. 811gg. (1) A fund-raising plate or collector plate

 


recognizing Michigan International Speedway shall bear an

 

appropriate logo, the design of which a representative or agent of

 

Michigan International Speedway shall submit to the secretary of

 

state. The secretary of state shall confer with the department of

 

state police to ensure that the design will not compromise the

 

ability of law enforcement agencies to accurately identify specific

 

vehicles.

 

     (2) Registration plates bearing a Michigan International

 

Speedway logo shall not be a duplication of another registration

 

plate. Michigan International Speedway shall comply with section

 

803m(3)(c) and (d) and (4)(c) and (d).

 

     (3) The MIS Cares fund is created within the state treasury.

 

The state treasurer may receive money or other assets from any

 

source for deposit into the fund. The state treasurer shall direct

 

the investment of the fund. The state treasurer shall credit to the

 

fund interest and earnings from fund investments. Money in the fund

 

at the close of the fiscal year shall remain in the fund and shall

 

not lapse to the general fund.

 

     (4) The secretary of state shall transfer the donation money

 

from the sale of fund-raising plates recognizing Michigan

 

International Speedway to the state treasurer, who shall credit the

 

donation money to the MIS Cares fund established under subsection

 

(3).

 

     (5) The state treasurer shall disburse money in the fund

 

established under subsection (3) on a quarterly basis to MIS Cares.

 

Beginning not later than 1 year after the secretary of state issues

 

the fund-raising plate described in this section and annually

 


thereafter, MIS Cares shall submit to the state treasurer a summary

 

of the expenditures during the preceding year of the money received

 

under this section.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days

 

after the date it is enacted into law.
