     A bill to require posting of the organizational structure of

 

state departments on a website that is accessible to the public.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 1. (1) This act shall be known and may be cited as the

 

"state department organization posting act".

 

     (2) By January 1, 2016, each department of state government

 

shall create and post on the website established under subsection

 

(3) an organizational chart that complies with the guidelines

 

established under subsection (4) and includes all of the following:

 

     (a) The name and position title of each public employee and

 

public officer within the department.

 

     (b) A graphical or other representation for each position

 

indicating that position in relation to other positions for

 

purposes of reporting and supervisory responsibility.

 


     (3) The department of technology, management, and budget shall

 

create and maintain a single website for posting the charts

 

required under subsection (2). The website shall be accessible to

 

the public and searchable to allow easy location and retrieval of

 

the posted information.

 

     (4) The department of technology, management, and budget shall

 

develop guidelines for the charts required under subsection (2) to

 

ensure the greatest possible standardization in the form of the

 

charts. The department of technology, management, and budget shall

 

provide technical assistance to the departments, as necessary, in

 

creating charts that conform to the guidelines.

 

     (5) Each department shall update the chart posted under

 

subsection (2) quarterly or more frequently.

 

     Enacting section 1. This act takes effect 90 days after the

 

date it is enacted into law.
