SUMMARY:
House Bill 5766 would amend Section 3j of the Electrical Administrative Act by requiring a sign specialty contractor to display its contractor's license number on each of its vehicles, in all of its advertising, and in each of its bids, proposals, or job quotations.
The bill would take effect 90 days after being enacted into law.
To be issued a specialty contractor's license, an individual must meet all of the following requirements:
o Hold a sign specialist's license or have at least one sign specialist residing in this state who is in full-time employ. The sign specialist must be actively in charge of, and responsible for, code compliance of all installations, maintenance, connection, and repair of electric signs and related wiring.
o File a completed application on a form provided by the Department of Licensing and Regulation.
o Pay the prescribed examination fee and pass an examination provided for by the Electrical Administrative Board and the department.
o Pay a license fee.
o Provide evidence of public liability insurance coverage, in accordance with the limits set by the board.
FISCAL IMPACT:
House Bill 5766 would likely not have significant fiscal impacts on the state or local units of government.
