Rep. LaVoy offered the following resolution:

            House Resolution No. 173.  

            A resolution to declare October 4, 2013, as French-Canadian Heritage Day in the state of Michigan.

            Whereas, French Canadians have made the Great Lakes their home beginning with the exploration of Etienne Brulee 400 years ago; and

            Whereas, Today, according to U.S. Census data, an estimated 165,000 people in Michigan claim French-Canadian heritage; now, therefore, be it

            Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body declare October 4, 2013, as French-Canadian Heritage Day in the state of Michigan; and be it further

            Resolved, That members of the House of Representatives join all of those of French-Canadian ancestry in celebrating their heritage and contributions to the state of Michigan on October 4, 2013.
