Rev. Jereme Bear, Pastor of Eagle Church of God and Arthur Center Church of God in Clare, offered the following invocation:

“Deuteronomy 1:29-31: 29Then I said to you, ‘Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them. 30The LORD your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, 31and in the wilderness. There you saw how the LORD your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.’

Father God we thank You today for the work which will take place in this hall today. We thank You for each person who You have placed in leadership over this state. We thank You for the way You have blessed this country and the blessing which are yet to come.

Now Father as the scripture has said, You are going ahead of us and are fighting for us so we are not terrified of the future. We will follow You. I pray for each person and the offices they represent that You will provide wisdom for each decision that needs to be made. I pray for discernment so no one will be fooled by false words. I pray that You will surround each person with those who will bring wise counsel from what You have taught us in Your life and through Your word.

You have brought each of us to this place today. You have lead us to this point so we may do the work You have planned for today. I ask in Jesus name this will be a blessed day by all who hear these words.

Amen.”
