A joint resolution proposing an amendment to the state
constitution of 1963, by adding section 28 to article I, to
recognize a right to hunt, trap, and fish and to harvest game and
fish.
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
state of Michigan, That the following amendment to the state
constitution of 1963, to recognize a right to hunt, trap, and fish
and to harvest game and fish, is proposed, agreed to, and submitted
to the people of the state:
ARTICLE I
Sec. 28. Subject to conditions established by law and based on
principles of scientific management of natural resources, the
people have the right to hunt, trap, and fish and to harvest game
and fish that are the property of the state and are held in the
public trust. The state shall aggressively enforce any laws adopted
to protect the right recognized by this section.
Resolved further, That the foregoing amendment shall be
submitted to the people of the state at the next general election
in the manner provided by law.
