SUBSTITUTE FOR

HOUSE BILL NO. 5318

     A bill to amend 1972 PA 230, entitled

"Stille-DeRossett-Hale single state construction code act,"

(MCL 125.1501 to 125.1531) by adding section 13g.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

     Sec. 13g. If a water utility has an approved comprehensive

control program for the elimination and prevention of all cross-

connections as provided for under R 325.11404 of the Michigan

administrative code, a testable backflow preventer on a lawn

sprinkler system must be tested only when required by the program,

subject to section 5(4) of the safe drinking water act, 1976 PA

399, MCL 325.1005.

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect

unless House Bill No. 5317 of the 97th Legislature is enacted into

law.
