PROPERTY CONVEYANCE H.B. 5952:
SUMMARY OF DISCHARGED BILL
House Bill 5952 (as passed by the House)
Sponsor: Representative Klint Kesto
House Committee: Appropriations
Senate Committee: Appropriations
CONTENT
The bill would authorize the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), on behalf of the State, to accept from the Charter Township of Commerce, for consideration of $1, approximately 48.84 acres in Commerce Township, Oakland County, Michigan, that were originally conveyed to the township pursuant to Public Act 248 of 1984. After receiving the conveyance from township, the DNR would have to reconvey the property to the township for $1, subject to the same conditions as the conveyance made pursuant to Public Act 248, except that the DNR would have to remove the condition that the property be used exclusively for public township park purposes and replace it with a condition that the property be used exclusively for public purposes.
The property is currently part of Dodge Park and the township is proposing to locate a new public library on the property. The Commerce Township board of trustees approved construction of a new public library at this location on October 14, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT
The bill would have no fiscal impact on the State, and would facilitate the use of the land for other public purposes by the Charter Township of Commerce.
