A SUMMARY OF SENATE BILL 748 AS PASSED BY THE SENATE ON 11-13-14

Senate Bill 748 would amend the Limousine Transportation Act to lower the population threshold from 750,000 to 500,000 in a provision requiring limousine operators to comply with a city's limousine ordinance.  This provision applies only the city of Detroit and the amendment reflects the city's reduced population.

Under the act, a limo carrier of passengers that operates Class B limousines for the purpose of picking up passengers within a city with a population of 750,000 or more must comply with that city's limo ordinance.  Senate Bill 748 would change the population threshold to 500,000 or more.

MCL 257.1907

FISCAL IMPACT:

The bill would allow current city limousine regulations to remain in place, along with any associated revenue.
