Senate Bills 93, 317, 1022, 1099, and 1146, would amend the Michigan Memorial Highway Act (MCL 250.1001, et al.) to designate and rename the following highways and bridge:
Senate Bill 93 would add Section 1076 to designate the portion of highway I-375 within Wayne County as the "102nd United States Colored Troops (U. S. C. T.) Memorial Highway."
Senate Bill 317 would add Section 1065 to designate the portion of highway M-29 beginning at Gratiot Avenue and extending east to the border between Macomb County and St. Clair County as the "Staff Sergeant Ergin V. Osman Memorial Highway."
Senate Bill 1022 would add Section 1064 to designate the bridge on M-64 over the Ontonagon River in Ontonagon Township as the "Ontonagon County Veterans Memorial Bridge." The bill is identical in content to House Bill 5715 reported from the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure on 9-16-14.
Senate Bill 1099 would add Section 94 to designate the portion of highway M-6 in Kent County beginning at the intersection of M-6 and Kalamazoo Avenue and continuing west to the intersection of M-6 and Byron Center Avenue as the "David Warsen Memorial Highway."
Senate Bill 1146 would add Section 96 to designate Scott Lake Road in Oakland County as the "Trooper James R. DeLoach and Trooper Steven J. Niewiek Memorial Highway."
FISCAL IMPACT:
Section 2 of the Michigan Memorial Highway Act indicates that the State Transportation Department shall only provide for the erection of suitable markers indicating the name of the highway "when sufficient private contributions are received to completely cover the cost of erecting and maintaining those markers." As a result, the bills has no state or local fiscal impact.
