THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

Sec. 10. (1) It is the natural, fundamental right of parents

and legal guardians to determine and direct the care, teaching, and

education of their children. The public schools of this state serve

the needs of the pupils by cooperating with the pupil's parents and

legal guardians to develop the pupil's intellectual capabilities

and vocational skills in a safe and positive environment.

     (2) It is the role of parents and legal guardians and pupils

to determine the best postsecondary educational opportunity to fit

the goals and objectives of the individual pupil. All postsecondary

educational opportunities, including internships, apprenticeships,

2-year degrees, 4-year degrees, and advanced degrees should be

considered depending on the career sought by the pupil.
