A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled
"The Michigan penal code,"
by amending section 84 (MCL 750.84).
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec.
84. Assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than
murder—Any
A person who shall assault assaults another
with intent
to
do great bodily harm, less than the crime of murder, shall be
including, but not limited to, assaulting another by strangulation
or suffocation, is guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment in
the
state prison not more than 10 years
, or by fine of not more
than
5,000 dollars.$5,000.00,
or both. As used in this section,
"strangulation or suffocation" means intentionally impeding normal
breathing or circulation of the blood by applying pressure on the
throat or neck or by blocking the nose or mouth of another person.
