A bill to amend 1953 PA 232, entitled
"Corrections code of 1953,"
(MCL 791.201 to 791.285) by adding section 69.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 69. (1) A prisoner shall not be permitted to receive or
possess either of the following:
(a) Any item belonging to a victim of the crime for which he
or she is incarcerated or that formerly belonged to a victim of the
crime for which he or she is incarcerated.
(b) Any photograph, drawing, or other visual image or
representation of a victim of the crime for which he or she is
incarcerated.
(2) Subsection (1) does not apply to an item, photograph,
drawing, or other visual image or representation of an immediate
family member of the victim if the item, photograph, drawing, or
other visual image or representation is received and possessed with
the permission of that immediate family member and the department
has determined that receiving and possessing the item, photograph,
drawing, or other visual image or representation will not interfere
with the rehabilitation of the prisoner and does not violate the
rules of the department or any law.
