A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled
"Public health code,"
by amending section 21787 (MCL 333.21787), as added by 2000 PA 501.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 21787. (1) The department may consult and work with the
Michigan public health institute created under section 2611 in
performing the department's regulatory and disciplinary duties
under this article. The department may also contract with the
Michigan public health institute for the performance of specific
functions required or authorized by this article, if determined
necessary by the director of the department.
(2) If the department contracts with the Michigan public
health institute for the design and implementation of projects and
for other public health-related activities prescribed in section
2611, the department shall report to the house and senate
appropriations subcommittees on community health, the house and
senate fiscal agencies, and the state budget director on or before
January 1 of each year all of the following:
(a) A detailed description of each funded project.
(b) The amount allocated for each project, the appropriation
line item from which the allocation is funded, and the source of
financing for each project.
(c) The expected project duration.
(d) A detailed spending plan for each project, including a
list of all subgrantees and the amount allocated to each
subgrantee.
(3) On or before September 30 of each year, the department
shall provide to the house and senate appropriations subcommittees
on community health, the house and senate fiscal agencies, and the
state budget director a copy of all reports, studies, and
publications produced by the Michigan public health institute, its
subcontractors, or the department with the funds appropriated and
allocated to the Michigan public health institute.
