A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled
"Michigan vehicle code,"
(MCL 257.1 to 257.923) by adding section 811s.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 811s. (1) The secretary of state shall develop under
section 811e and issue under section 811f a fund-raising plate
recognizing Calvin college. The secretary of state in conjunction
with the Calvin college alumni association shall design the fund-
raising plate authorized in this section.
(2) The Calvin college alumni association fund is created
within the state treasury. The state treasurer may receive money or
assets from any source for deposit into the fund. The state
treasurer shall direct the investment of the fund. The state
treasurer shall credit to the fund interest and earnings from fund
investments. Money in the fund at the close of the fiscal year
shall remain in the fund and shall not lapse to the general fund.
(3) The secretary of state shall transfer the donation money
from the sale of fund-raising plates recognizing Calvin college to
the state treasurer, who shall credit the donation money to the
fund established under subsection (2).
(4) The state treasurer shall disburse money in the fund
established under subsection (2) on a quarterly basis to the Calvin
college alumni association.
(5) Notwithstanding the requirements of section 811h(4), a
fund-raising plate created under this section shall meet or exceed
a sales goal of 4,000 plates in the first 5 years after the fund-
raising plate is created.
