HOUSE BILL No. 5773

     A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled

 

"Public health code,"

 

(MCL 333.1101 to 333.25211) by adding sections 2763 and 2765.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 2763. (1) The frontline health provider program fund is

 

created in the state treasury. The state treasurer may receive

 

money or other assets from any source for deposit into the fund,

 

including, but not limited to, the proceeds of scholarship

 

repayments under section 2757(3), the proceeds of loan repayment

 

grants under section 2759(5), and earnings and interest from fund

 

investments.

 

     (2) The state treasurer shall direct the investment of the

 

fund.

 

     (3) Money in the fund at the close of a fiscal year shall


 

remain in the fund and shall not lapse to the general fund.

 

     (4) The department is the administrator of the fund for

 

auditing purposes.

 

     (5) The department shall only expend money appropriated from

 

the fund to award scholarships and loan repayment grants under this

 

part.

 

     Sec. 2765. (1) In each of the 2013-2014, 2014-2015, and 2015-

 

2016 state fiscal years, the department shall award not more than

 

$4,000,000.00 in scholarships and grants under this part from the

 

fund to not more than 40 recipients.

 

     (2) Beginning in 2014, the department shall annually prepare a

 

report summarizing the scholarships and grants made under this part

 

and the progress of the frontline health provider program and

 

provide a copy of the report to the chairs of the house and senate

 

appropriations subcommittees for the department of community

 

health.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect

 

unless all of the following bills of the 96th Legislature are

 

enacted into law:
