     A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled

 

"Public health code,"

 

by amending section 2841 (MCL 333.2841).

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 2841. (1) Death registration is required for each

 

individual who dies in this state. If the place of death is

 

unknown, but the body is found in this state, the death

 

registration shall show this fact and shall be completed and filed

 

in accordance with this section and section 2842. The place where

 

the body is found shall be shown as the place of death.

 

     (2) Except as otherwise provided under this part, an

 

individual who discovers the body of an individual he or she knows

 

or has reason to know is dead and, with the purpose of hiding or

 

concealing the fact or cause of death of that individual, fails to

 

inform a law enforcement agency or a 9-1-1 operator of the

 


discovery is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for

 

not more than 1 year or a fine of not more than $1,000.00, or both.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect October

 

1, 2012.
