HOUSE BILL No. 4553

     A bill to amend 1980 PA 299, entitled

 

"Occupational code,"

 

by amending sections 2203 and 2205 (MCL 339.2203 and 339.2205), as

 

amended by 2008 PA 490.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 2203. (1) The director shall appoint 1 or more ad hoc

 

committees to assist the director and the department in adopting

 

rules regarding the setting of standards for continuing education

 

and continuing competency courses and programs, providing for

 

exceptions to the licensure standards in extraordinary cases, and

 

establishing specific license sanction recommendations for certain

 

violations.

 

     (2) The committees shall consist of as many members as the

 

director considers necessary but shall include at least a majority


 

of members that who are licensed under this article.

 

     (3) The committees A committee appointed under this section

 

shall serve during the processing of the rules and may make

 

recommendations and suggested revisions regarding the content of

 

the rules.

 

     Sec. 2205. (1) All An applicant shall complete all of the

 

requirements for licensure shall be completed within 10 years after

 

receipt of the department receives his or her application. by the

 

department. If the requirements are not completed within the 10-

 

year period, the application shall be is void.

 

     (2) A demonstration of continuing professional competence

 

shall be required for renewal of a license as determined by the

 

department and The department shall not renew a license under this

 

article if the applicant does not demonstrate to the satisfaction

 

of the department that he or she has met any continuing education

 

requirements provided for by rule of the director.
