House Bill 5152
Sponsor: Rep. Rick Outman
Committee: Transportation
Complete to 2-21-12
A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5152 AS INTRODUCED 11-8-11
The bill would amend Section 705 of the Vehicle Code to specify that nothing in the act or in rules promulgated under the act could require a "portable conveyor" to be equipped with brakes. The section being amended prescribes what kind of brake equipment is required for a variety of vehicles and trailers.
The bill would also amend Section 62 of the Vehicle Code to add the terms "generator trailers" and "portable conveyors" to the vehicles listed in the definition of "special mobile equipment" in the code. Special mobile equipment is defined in the code to apply to vehicles that are not designed or used primarily for the transportation of persons or property and that are incidentally operated or moved over the highways, including farm tractors, road construction or maintenance machinery, mobile office trailers, mobile tool shed trailers, mobile trailer units used for housing stationary construction equipment, ditch-digging apparatus, and well-boring and well-servicing apparatus.
MCL 257.62 and MCL 257.705
FISCAL IMPACT:
The bill would have no fiscal impact.
