A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5114 AS INTRODUCED 10-20-11

The bill would repeal Section 14i of the Social Welfare Act.  The bill is understood to be a clarifying "follow-up" bill to House Bills 4409 and 4410 (Public Acts 131 and 132 of 2011), which, among other things, prohibited the payment of Family Independence Program (FIP) assistance to any individual for longer than a cumulative total of 48 months during his or her lifetime, with some months exempted from the limit for certain recipients.

Section 14i states that "Sections 57f(3)(c), (e), and (f) and 57g(4), (5), (6), and (7) of the Social Welfare Act do not apply after March 31, 2007."  That language was put into statute in 2006.  However, these are among the sections that were amended by Public Acts 131 and 132 of 2011, and the references are no longer appropriate.
