BRIDGE CARD INCARCERATION MATCH

House Bill 4723 (As Enrolled)

Public Act 281 of 2012

Sponsor:  Rep. Bob Genetski

Committee:  Families, Children, and Seniors

Complete to 8-10-12

A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4723 AS ENROLLED

House Bill 4723 would amend the Social Welfare Act (MCL 400.1 et seq.) to require the Department of Human Services to perform an incarceration match each month to obtain information to assist in determining eligibility based on incarceration status. If the department determines that a recipient is incarcerated at the time the match is performed, a bridge card would not be issued to that incarcerated recipient. If a bridge card has already been issued to the incarcerated recipient, the department would be required to terminate the recipient's bridge card access.

FISCAL IMPACT:

House Bill 4723 codifies current DHS policy, so there will be no fiscal impact.
