January 14, 2010, Introduced by Senators SCOTT, JACOBS, BRATER, GLEASON, CHERRY and HUNTER and referred to the Committee on Economic Development and Regulatory Reform.

 

 

 

     A bill to amend 1980 PA 350, entitled

 

"The nonprofit health care corporation reform act,"

 

(MCL 550.1101 to 550.1704) by adding section 416e.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 416e. (1) A health care corporation that issues or renews

 

in this state a group or nongroup certificate shall include

 

coverage for human papillomavirus screening at the testing

 

intervals outlined in the recommendations for cervical cytology

 

screening developed by the American college of obstetricians and

 

gynecologists or as prescribed by order of the commissioner. As

 

used in this section, "human papillomavirus screening" means either

 

a laboratory test that specifically detects for infection by 1 or

 

more agents of the human papillomavirus or a laboratory test that

 

is approved for this purpose by the federal food and drug


 

administration.

 

     (2) Coverage under this section shall not be subject to any

 

dollar limit, copayment, deductible, or coinsurance provision that

 

does not apply to laboratory tests generally.

 

     (3) This section does not apply to specified disease or

 

accident-only coverage.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect January

 

1, 2011.
