A bill to amend 1986 PA 32, entitled
"Emergency 9-1-1 service enabling act,"
(MCL 484.1101 to 484.1717) by adding section 322.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 322. (1) The commission shall require all 9-1-1 call
centers in this state to submit a consolidation plan no later than
24 months after the effective date of the amendatory act that added
this section.
(2) A consolidation plan under this section shall comply with
the following:
(a) A consolidated call center shall be designed to serve
100,000 people according to the latest federal decennial census.
(b) A consolidated call center shall contain equipment that
accepts calls, text messages, or other communications from all
wireless communication devices.
(3) No later than 6 months after receiving a consolidation
plan under subsection (1), the commission shall review and approve
or disapprove each consolidation plan under this section. If the
commission does not act by 6 months after receiving a consolidation
plan under subsection (1), the consolidation plan is considered
approved. If the consolidation plan is disapproved, the commission
shall adjust the plan to ensure that the plan complies with
subsection (2).
