A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4225 AS INTRODUCED 2-10-09

The Michigan Vehicle Code imposes increased fines and penalties for moving violations committed in a work zone.  House Bill 4225 would amend the code to require that, whenever practical, signs be placed at the work zone notifying drivers of the increased fines and penalties provided for the protection and safety of construction workers and the public.

The bill requires that the signs be in compliance with the Uniform Manual of Traffic Control Devices and that they be placed appropriately by the Department of Transportation or the road authority with jurisdiction over the work zone.
