SUBSTITUTE FOR
SENATE BILL NO. 1526
A bill to amend 1982 PA 204, entitled
"Deaf persons' interpreters act,"
(MCL 393.501 to 393.509) by adding section 8f.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 8f. (1) The interpreters' standards fund is created
within the state treasury.
(2) The state treasurer may receive money or other assets from
any source for deposit into the fund. The state treasurer shall
direct the investment of the fund. The state treasurer shall credit
to the fund interest and earnings from fund investments.
(3) Money in the fund at the close of the fiscal year shall
remain in the fund and shall not lapse to the general fund.
(4) The department of labor and economic growth shall be the
administrator of the fund for auditing purposes.
(5) Money received under sections 8c and 8e shall be deposited
into the fund and expended as described in this section.
(6) The department of labor and economic growth shall expend
money from the fund to cover costs associated with the division on
deaf and hard of hearing within the commission on disability
concerns.
