CONTENT
The bill would repeal Public Act 113 of 1939, which prohibits the sale of artificially ripened tomatoes unless the label indicates that they are not vine ripened.
Specifically, under the Act, it is unlawful to sell or offer to sell any domestic or imported tomatoes that are not vine ripened, unless the wrappings and containers are labeled "not vine ripened" or "artificially ripened by ethylene" or another process.
A person who violates the Act is guilty of a misdemeanor.
