LICENSING FEES FOR ADULT FOSTER CARE FACILITIES

BRIEF SUMMARY: The bill would increase licensing fees for adult foster care facilities as outlined below:

Application for new original 6-month license:

Family home:  from $ 65 to $150

Small group home (1-6 residents):  from $105 to $250

Small group home (7-12 residents):  from $135 to $350

Large group home:  from $170 to $450

Congregate facility:  from $220 to $450

Camp:  from $40 to $80

Application fee for 2-year renewal license:

Family home:  from $25 to $50

Small group home (1-6 residents):  from $25 to $100

Small group home (7-12 residents):  from $60 to $150

Large group home:  from $100 to $250

Congregate facility:  from $150 to $250

Camp:  from $25 to $50

FISCAL IMPACT: According to data from the Department of Human Services, there were 1,199 adult foster care family homes, 2,146 small group homes with 1-6 residents, 600 small group homes with 7-12 residents, 500 large group homes, and 11 congregate facilities licensed in February 2007.  It is estimated that these fee changes will generate an additional $235,000 annually.
