A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled
"The insurance code of 1956,"
(MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 2128a.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 2128a. The commissioner shall develop by January 1, 2007
a comprehensive community education program. In developing the
community education program, the commissioner shall form a
consortium of government officials and others having expertise in
relevant subject areas, including, but not limited to,
representatives of the secretary of state, department of
transportation, state police, and local law enforcement. The
community education program shall be designed to educate community
leaders as to specific steps that they can take to reduce home and
automobile premiums in their communities, including, but not
limited to, education efforts, fire prevention law enforcement
activities, improving traffic infrastructure, and increasing public
transportation. The commissioner shall promote and distribute the
community education program by July 1, 2007.
