A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled
"The revised school code,"
(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1319.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 1319. If a high school operated by a school district
conducts or participates in a career or college day or similar
program for pupils concerning career or postsecondary educational
opportunities, and if the school district also operates an
alternative education program for high school pupils, the board of
the school district shall ensure that pupils in the alternative
education program are allowed to attend and participate in the
career or college day or similar program. In addition, school
officials shall provide to high school pupils in the alternative
education program and their parents the same advance information
about the career or college day or similar program as is provided
to other high school pupils and parents. If the board of the school
district determines that it is not in the best interests of pupils
to include alternative education pupils in the career or college
day or similar program at the same time as other high school
pupils, the board may arrange special times for alternative
education pupils to participate.
