A bill to amend 1972 PA 251, entitled
"An act to provide for the reciprocal exchange of educational
services between this state and other states; to provide for
reduced or waived tuition, and to designate the state agency for
negotiating agreements,"
by amending sections 2, 4, and 5 (MCL 390.502, 390.504, and
390.505), as amended by 2005 PA 34.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec.
2. (1) The department of labor and economic growth
Beginning on the effective date of the amendatory act that added
subsection (2), the department of education is the state agency to
enter into reciprocal agreements with public educational agencies
in other states.
(2) This section does not affect the validity of a reciprocal
agreement entered into by the department of labor and economic
growth on behalf of this state before the effective date of the
amendatory act that added this subsection.
Sec. 4. A reciprocal agreement, or a renewal or extension of a
reciprocal
agreement, entered into by the department of labor and
economic
growth a state agency under
section 2 is not valid until
approved by the appropriations committees of the house of
representatives and the senate.
Sec.
5. The department of labor and economic growth
education shall annually review all reciprocal agreements to
determine the fiscal effects and to correct any imbalances if
necessary.
