A SUMMARY OF HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION "M" AS INTRODUCED 7-13-05
The joint resolution proposes an amendment to Article IV, Section 53 of the State Constitution to expand the audit authority of the Auditor General to include audits of local school districts and of intermediate school districts. The proposed amendment would be submitted to the voters at the next general election.
(Currently, the constitution says: The auditor general shall conduct post audits of financial transactions and accounts of the state and of all branches, departments, offices, boards, commissions, agencies, authorities, and institutions of the state established by this constitution or by law, and performance post audits thereof. The joint resolution would add "of local school districts, and of intermediate school districts.")
