STATE FORESTLAND TIMBER HARVESTS
House Bill 5453
Sponsor: Rep. Tom Casperson
Committee: Conservation, Forestry, and Outdoor Recreation
Complete to 12-7-05
A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5453 AS INTRODUCED 11-29-05
The bill would amend the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act to specify that when the Department of Natural Resources evaluates acreage within a state forest for purposes of management activities, it would be required to put up for sale all evaluated acreage during the state fiscal year in which it is evaluated, except for acreage restricted from timber sales by state or federal law.
The bill also specifies that when the department puts timber sales up for bid, it would be required to provide to all bidders, for educational purposes only, the acreage included in the timber sale that had been identified by the department (prior to the effective date of the bill) as containing factor limits.
The bill is tie-barred to a bill that is not yet introduced, so House Bill 5453 could not go into effect, unless that yet to be introduced bill also were enacted.
