A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled
"Michigan vehicle code,"
(MCL 257.1 to 257.923) by adding section 706a.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 706a. (1) A person shall not equip a motor vehicle
2 with any device that is designed for, or is capable of, jamming,
3 scrambling, neutralizing, disabling, or otherwise interfering
4 with radar, laser, or any other electronic device used by a law
5 enforcement agency to measure the speed of moving objects.
6 (2) A person shall not use, buy, possess, manufacture, sell,
7 or otherwise distribute any device that is designed for jamming,
8 scrambling, neutralizing, disabling, or otherwise interfering
9 with radar, laser, or any other electronic device used by a law
10 enforcement agency to measure the speed of moving objects.
11 (3) A person who violates subsection (1) or (2) is guilty of
1 a misdemeanor punishable as follows:
2 (a) For a first offense, by imprisonment for not more than 93
3 days or a fine of not more than $500.00, or both.
4 (b) For a second or subsequent offense, by imprisonment for
5 not more than 6 months or a fine of not more than $1,000.00, or
6 both.
