A bill to amend 1980 PA 299, entitled
"Occupational code,"
by amending section 804 (MCL 339.804), as amended by 1995 PA 217;
and to repeal acts and parts of acts.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 804. (1) A boxing match or exhibition for prizes or
2 purses, or for which an admission fee is charged or received, may
3 be held within the state, subject to the direction, management,
4 and control of the department.
5 (2) This article does not allow the conduct of a tough man
6 contest. As used in this subsection, "tough man contest" means
7 an unarmed combat elimination contest between any 2 or more
8 individuals.
9 (3) (2) This
article does not apply to boxing matches or
10 exhibitions conducted by or participated in exclusively by a
1 department or agency of the United States government or by a
2 school, college, or university or by an association or
3 organization composed exclusively of these schools, colleges, or
4 universities if each contestant in the match or exhibition is an
5 amateur.
6 Enacting section 1. Section 805a of the occupational code,
7 1980 PA 299, MCL 339.805a, is repealed.
8 Enacting section 2. This amendatory act does not take
9 effect unless Senate Bill No. _____ or House Bill No. 4978
10 (request no. 04216'03 a) of the 92nd Legislature is enacted into
11 law.
