SENATE SUBSTITUTE FOR

HOUSE BILL NO. 4914

                                                                             A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled                                             

"Natural resources and environmental protection act,"                       

(MCL 324.101 to 324.90106) by adding section 80124b.                        

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

1   Sec. 80124b.  (1) Money received by the secretary of state                  

2   from the sale of each Great Lakes protection specialty watercraft           

3   decal under section 80124a shall be used as follows:                        

4       (a) $10.00 shall be retained by the secretary of state for                  

5   use in creating and distributing the decal.                                 

6       (b) $25.00 shall be forwarded to the state treasurer for                    

7   deposit into the Michigan Great Lakes protection fund to be used            

8   for research on aquatic nuisance species, for public education of           

9   the threat of aquatic nuisance species, and for efforts to                  

10  eradicate aquatic nuisance species from the Great Lakes and other           

11  waters of the state.                                                        

1       (2) As used in this section:                                                

2       (a) "Aquatic nuisance species" means that term as it is                     

3   defined in section 3101.                                                    

4       (b) "Michigan Great Lakes protection fund" means the Michigan               

5   Great Lakes protection fund created in section 32905.

6       Enacting section 1.  This amendatory act does not take                      

7   effect unless all of the following bills of the 92nd Legislature            

8   are enacted into law:                                                       

9       (a) Senate Bill No. 535.                                                    

10      (b) Senate Bill No. 536.
