SUBSTITUTE FOR

HOUSE BILL NO. 4052

                                                                             A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled                                             

"The insurance code of 1956,"                                               

(MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 3408a.                          

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

1   Sec. 3408a.  An insurer writing disability insurance under                  

2   this chapter or chapter 36 that provides coverage for hospital,             

3   nursing, medical, surgical, or sick-care benefits and a health              

4   maintenance organization shall not display an insured's or                  

5   enrollee's social security number on a benefit card.

6       Enacting section 1.  This amendatory act takes effect                       

7   January 1, 2006.
