BCBSM PRESCRIPTION DRUG COV. - S.B. 237: FLOOR ANALYSIS
sans-serif">Senate Bill 237 (as reported without amendment)
CONTENT
The bill would amend the Nonprofit Health Care Corporation Reform Act to require Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) to establish, and offer to provide or include, prescription drug coverage in at least one nongroup and group conversion certificate. This requirement would not apply to a certificate that provided only for catastrophic health benefits. The bill would apply to certificates issued or renewed on or after one year following the date the bill was enacted.
The bill is tie-barred to Senate Bill 234, which would revise provisions regarding BCBSM’s surplus, rate filings, and financial information reporting.
