A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5035 AS INTRODUCED 6-24-03

The Mobile Home Commission Act provides for an 11-member state commission.  The bill would expand the membership to create a 22-member commission.  The commission membership currently consists of a representative from an organization representing mobile home residents; a representative of financial institutions; three operators of mobile home parks, two from parks with 100 or more sites and one from a park with fewer than 100 sites; a representative of organized labor; an elected official of a local government; a licensed mobile home dealer; two residents of mobile home parks, one from a park with 100 or more sites and one from a park with fewer than 100 sites; and a manufacturer of mobile homes.

Under the bill, the commission would also contain two elected township representatives; two elected public school district representatives; two elected municipal or city government representatives; two elected county representatives; and four representatives from the general public.  (Currently, the act calls for one elected official of a local government.  That provision would be deleted since the bill provides eight new elected local officials.)
