A bill to amend 1905 PA 311, entitled

"An act with respect to the furnishing of bonds by state offi-

cers, their deputies, and officers of state institutions; to pro-

vide for the payment of the cost of such bonds, and to prescribe

the places of filing the same,"

by amending sections 1 and 2 (MCL 15.71 to 15.72).

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

1 Sec. 1. Whenever a bond is required by the laws of this

2 state to be given by the auditor general, secretary of state,

3 state treasurer, commissioner of the state land office DIRECTOR

4 OF THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, attorney general, or

5 superintendent of public instruction, or the deputy or deputies

6 of said THOSE officers, or any other civil or military offi-

7 cer of the THIS state, or any officer of any state institution,

8 whether elected or appointed, who is charged with the duty of

9 being the custodian of any state or institution funds, money, or

1 property, such THAT state or institution officer may procure

2 the required bond from any surety company authorized by the laws

3 of this state to execute same THE BOND, and the cost thereof

4 OF THE BOND, not exceeding 1/2 of 1 per cent 1% per annum

5 YEAR, shall be paid out of the treasury of the THIS state, of

6 Michigan, upon the warrant of the proper officer after being

7 first allowed by the board of state auditors STATE TREASURER.

8 Sec. 2. The various bonds referred to in section 1 of this

9 act shall be filed in the office of the secretary of state, of

10 the state of Michigan, any requirement in any other statute of

11 the THIS state to the contrary notwithstanding. : Provided,

12 however, That HOWEVER, the bond required to be furnished by the

13 secretary of state, his OR HER deputy, or any employe EMPLOYEE

14 connected with his THAT office, required by law to file a bond,

15 shall be filed in the office of the auditor general WITH THE

16 STATE TREASURER. It is hereby made the duty of the THE secre-

17 tary of state and the auditor general to STATE TREASURER SHALL

18 receive and make adequate provision for the safe keeping

19 SAFEKEEPING of said THE bonds DESCRIBED IN THIS ACT.
