        A bill to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled

   "Revised judicature act of 1961,"

   by amending section 2543 (MCL 600.2543), as amended by 1986 PA

   308.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

             Sec. 2543.  (1)  The circuit  CIRCUIT court reporters or

 2
        recorders  shall be  ARE entitled to  demand and  receive $3.00

 3
        per ORIGINAL page for a transcript ordered by any person  the sum

 4
        of $1.75 per original page  and  30  50 cents per page for each

 5
        copy, unless a lower rate is agreed upon.  For a transcript

 6
        ordered by the circuit judge, reporters or recorders  shall be

 7
        ARE entitled to receive from the county the same compensation.

             (2) Only if the transcript is  desired  ORDERED for the

 9
        purpose of moving for a new trial or preparing a record for

        appeal,  shall  the  amount of  reporters' or recorders' fees

        paid for the transcript  be recovered  ARE RECOVERABLE as  a part

 2
        of the  taxable costs of the prevailing party in the motion, in

 3
        the court of appeals or the supreme court.
