REORGANIZE SENTENCING GUIDELINES - H.B. 5576: FLOOR ANALYSIS

CONTENT
The bill would amend Chapter 17 (Sentencing Guidelines) of the Code of Criminal Procedure to recodify sentencing guidelines designations in Section 15 of that chapter. Section 15, like several other sections in Chapter 17, lists a number of felony violations contained in Michigan law specifying their Michigan Compiled Law (MCL) citation, crime category, felony class, offense description, and statutory maximum sentence.
Section 15 includes sentencing guidelines designations for violations of MCL Chapters 500 to 749. Under the bill, those designations would be listed under proposed Sections 15a to 15g.
The bill would take effect on May 1, 2002.
