A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5431 AS INTRODUCED 11-1-01

Currently, under the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (NREPA) the fee for an all-species fishing license for juniors, aged 12 to16 years of age, is $2. The bill would amend the act to add that a person under 17 years of age could take aquatic species, subject to the provisions of the act. In addition, the bill would specify that a person under 10 years of age could fish with a rod and any bait, subject to a creel limit of one in an area where the creel limit is otherwise zero.
