A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4830 AS INTRODUCED 5-30-01

House Bill 4830 would amend the Revised School Code to require the parent of a home-school child to notify the local or intermediate superintendent at the beginning of each school year.

Under current law, at the beginning of each school year, the appropriate authority of each nonpublic school must furnish to the superintendent of schools, or to the intermediate school district superintendent, of the district in which the nonpublic school is situated, all of the following: a) the name and age of each child who is enrolled at the school; b) the number or name of the school district and the city or township and county in which the parent, guardian, or person in parental relation resides; c) the name and address of the parent, guardian, or other person in parental relation; and, d) the name and age of each child enrolled in the school who is not in regular attendance. House Bill 4830 would retain these provisions for nonpublic school students and extend the requirements to students who are home-schooled.
